Over the past 3 years, forestry specialists of the Republic of Tatarstan have managed to reduce the area of outbreaks of forest pests and diseases by 31.2 thousand hectares. This became possible thanks to the complex of forestry works and sanitary and recreational activities.

“The state of forest plantations is influenced by several factors, in many cases, the reason for the weakening of forests is unfavorable weather conditions. This is cold weather, prolonged drought, and high air temperatures,” says Alexei Mosunov, head of the sector for the protection and protection of the forest fund of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. “Therefore, it is very important to inspect the forests on time and take the necessary measures.”

To protect forests, last year in the Republic of Tatarstan, work was carried out on a forest pathological survey on an area of 40.9 thousand hectares, sanitary and recreational activities - on an area of 3.6 thousand hectares, including cleaning of illiquid wood - on 2.8 thousand hectares. In May, measures were taken to eliminate pest outbreaks on the territory of the forest fund of the Aznakaevsky and Bugulma forestries on an area of 173 hectares.
