Today, the Ministry hosted a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Prevention and Suppression of Illegal Harvesting, Transportation, Processing, Sale and Export of Timber in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was held via videoconference chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov.
Head of the Department of State Control and Supervision of the Ministry Airat Akhmerov and Head of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khisametdinov made reports at the meeting.
During his speech, Airat Akhmerov spoke about the ongoing measures to prevent and detect offenses in the field of timber harvesting and turnover, carried out in 2021 by the interdepartmental operational and preventive measures Timber Carrier and El.
“As part of the Timber Carrier operation, 213 raids were carried out with the participation of state forest inspectors and employees of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, 300 trucks loaded with timber were stopped and inspected at stationary posts,” he said. “Operation “Spruce” took place at the end of December last year. According to its results, 619 raids were carried out, 7 violations of forest legislation were revealed on the territory of the forest fund of Alkeyevsky, Arsky, Menzelinsky, Sabinsky, and Cheremshansky forestries.”
“In general, measures to prevent and suppress violations of forest legislation are systemic in nature and have positive results,” Airat Akhmerov added. “This is evidenced by the decrease in the number of cases of illegal logging of forest plantations and the volume of illegally harvested wood.”
Ildar Khisametdinov dwelled on the measures taken by law enforcement officers to decriminalize the forest industry and the tasks for the coming period.
