In connection with numerous appeals, the Federal Forestry Agency explains the procedure for acquiring timber for its own needs.

Citizens have the right to purchase wood for their own needs, including for firewood, by concluding direct sales contracts with state institutions engaged in timber harvesting. Registration of electronic accompanying documents is not required if the volume of timber purchased does not exceed 10 m3.

In addition, citizens have the right to independently harvest wood for their own needs (for heating purposes, construction of buildings), purchase it at retail, and transport it in a volume of fewer than 10 m3 without ESD. Also, in the listed cases, it is not required to separately declare the transaction, or take into account the wood.

If the volume of purchased wood is more than 10 m3, then for its transportation an ESD will be required, which is formed in LesEGAIS by the seller, and not by the citizen. A citizen who has bought wood for his own needs is provided with a copy of the generated ESD on paper or the details of such a document in LesEGAIS. Such a document is valid for 7 days from the date of the transaction.
