Ravil Kuzyurov spoke at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan about the preparations for the silvicultural and fire hazardous seasons of 2022
Today, a briefing was held in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov. At it, the minister spoke about the preparations for the silvicultural and fire hazardous seasons of 2022, the upcoming environmental campaigns “Clean Forests of Tatarstan” and “Garden of Memory”.
“Forestry work is planned to start after April 25. This is 10 days later than last year due to the amount of precipitation and slow melting of snow, but not critical - but the soil will not suffer from a lack of moisture,” said Ravil Kuzyurov. “For the fourth year in a row, reforestation work in the republic will be carried out within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the national project “Ecology”. Let me remind you that its main goal is to ensure a balance of retirement and reproduction of forests in a ratio of 100% by 2024, and the main target indicators are “The ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of cutting down and deadforest plantations, %” and “Damage from forest fires, million rubles”.”
The minister said that the planned value of the first indicator for 2022 is 83.4%, the regional project will carry out reforestation work on an area of 3,619 hectares.
“It is also planned to lay protective forest plantations on agricultural land on an area of 1,838 hectares,” said Ravil Kuzyurov. “Thus, in the current year, reforestation and afforestation on an area of 5,457 hectares will be completed in the republic.”
In addition, there are several projects to carry out compensatory reforestation and afforestation on an area of 500 hectares following Article 63.1 of the Forest Code of the Russian Federation at the expense of forest users from other regions and the laying of protective forest plantations to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions of PJSC TATNEFT on an area of 2307 hectares. In case of identifying sources of funding and successful implementation of these projects, the total area of reforestation and afforestation in the Republic of Tatarstan will be 8264 hectares.
To carry out these works, last year in the basic forest nurseries and the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan, 34.1 million pieces of standard planting material were grown, including coniferous species - 25.5 million pieces, deciduous species - 7.9 million pieces, shrubs - 700 thousand pieces.
“The second, no less important task facing the specialists of the forest industry of the Republic of Tatarstan is to ensure fire safety in the forests,” the minister informed. “The fire season in the forests will open with the establishment of stable dry weather after April 25.”
As part of the preparation for the fire hazard period, a Consolidated plan for extinguishing forest fires on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan was developed, all forest fire stations, fire equipment concentration points were checked, ground patrol routes for the forest fund were approved, forest fire formations and mobile fire extinguishing teams were formed.
Meetings and videoconferences were held on the issues of protecting forests from fires in each municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan. At such meetings, issues of fire prevention measures, forest fire propaganda, and interagency cooperation in the event of a forest fire or other emergency were discussed.
In addition, a contract was signed for the provision of air patrol services for the forest fund of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Currently, the Republic of Tatarstan is conducting space and ground-based monitoring of a fire hazard situation, campaigning and explanatory work are being carried out among the population on compliance with fire safety rules in forests, and the regional dispatch service of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan "Forest Fire Center" is also working around the clock.
Further, the minister focused on environmental actions. “Yesterday, on April 18, the Republican environmental action “Clean forests of Tatarstan” started. This year it will be held in 2 stages: from April 18 to June 18 and from September 12 to November 12,” said Ravil Kuzyurov. “As part of the spring stage of the action, the territory of the forest fund of the republic will be cleared of solid municipal waste, deadwood and fallen trees, repair and arrangement of full houses, information boards, and recreation areas in the forest.”
On April 30 of this year, the International Action “Garden of Memory” will be organized on the territory of the forest fund of the Republic of Tatarstan. In total, it is planned to plant 378 thousand seedlings on this day in memory of the great feat of 378 thousand Tatarstan citizens who did not return home from the front to their relatives and friends. Tree planting will be attended by representatives of subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, executive committees, institutions, organizations, enterprises of municipal districts, youth public associations, students of educational institutions, and volunteers.
“It is expected that a total of 1 million seedlings will be planted within the framework of the “Garden of Memory” campaign (taking into account the lands of the forest fund and settlements), the minister concluded.
