Sowing of seeds in forest nurseries continues in Tatarstan within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”. According to specialists from the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, as of May 6 this year, such work was carried out on an area of 7.6 hectares. The employees of the Almetyevsk, Bugulminsky, Buinsky, Zainsky, Leninogorsky, and Mamadysh forestries of the republic completed the planned scope of work. In total, this year it is planned to sow seeds in nurseries on an area of 21 hectares.

Recall that the production of planting material is an additional indicator of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan”. “Growing seedlings is one of the most painstaking and time-consuming processes in forestry,” says Timur Galiyev, head of the ministry's reforestation and afforestation department. “During the summer period, seasonal work will be carried out in the nurseries to care for the crops - this is regular watering, loosening the soil, weed control, application of mineral fertilizers, and spraying from diseases and pests. In general, in 2022 we are faced with the task of increasing the volume of cultivation of planting material.”

According to him, there are 51 basic forest nurseries in the Republic of Tatarstan. Foresters also grow seedlings in greenhouses. For example, this practice is common in Arsky, Bugulminsky, Isleytarsky, and Privolzhsky forestries.
