The first results of the implementation of the national project “Ecology” in 2022: reforestation and afforestation on an area of 1521 hectares were carried out in Tatarstan
Several works have been completed in Tatarstan within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”. Thus, employees of subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - forestry enterprises carried out work on planting forest crops on an area of 1521.1 hectares, including artificial reforestation - on 1412.5 hectares (100% of the plan), afforestation - on 104.6 hectares ( 100%), combined reforestation - on 4 hectares (100%).
Recall that in total in 2022, under the regional project, measures will be taken to restore forests on an area of 3,619.1 hectares in the republic. In the summer and autumn periods, it is planned to carry out work to promote natural reforestation on an area of 2098 hectares. Also during the year, at least 11.4 tons of seeds of the main forest-forming species will be harvested and at least 30.9 million pieces of standard planting material will be grown.
“All the remaining work will be completed following the requirements within the established agrotechnical deadlines,” commented the head of the reforestation and afforestation department of the Ministry, Timur Galiev. “The bulk of the seed material will be harvested in September and October this year. If we talk about the species composition, these are the seeds of oak, maple, ash, and linden. Also, the priority task remains to increase the volume of growing seedlings, so special attention will be paid to caring for crops in nurseries.”
In addition, within the framework of the spring silvicultural season of 2022, forestry specialists carried out work to supplement forest crops on an area of 2193 hectares (54%), and sow seeds in basic forest nurseries - on 21 hectares (100%).

The regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” within the framework of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology” began to be implemented in 2019. Its main goal is to ensure a balance of disposal and reproduction of forests in the ratio of 100% by 2024. To achieve this goal, 2 target indicators have been set: “the ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of cutting down and dead forest plantations, %” and “damage from forest fires, million rubles”.
