Today, the Ministry hosted a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Prevention and Suppression of Illegal Harvesting, Transportation, Processing, Sale and Export of Timber in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was held via videoconference chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov.
Head of the department of state control and supervision of the Ministry Airat Akhmerov and head of the department of the state forest registry, use of forests and forest management Ramil Gilmanshin made reports at the meeting.
During his speech, Airat Akhmerov spoke about the work carried out by the Ministry to prevent and detect offenses in the field of timber harvesting and trafficking. He said that in the first half of 2022, 20 cases of illegal logging of forest plantations were detected. “Compared to the same period last year, the number of such facts decreased by 50%, the volume of illegally harvested timber decreased by 74.9%,” Airat Akhmerov said.
According to him, also for 6 months of the current year, 18 cases of administrative offenses were initiated under Article 8.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
Ramil Gilmanshin dwelled on the issues of timber harvesting by citizens for their own needs. He recalled that in accordance with Part 1 of Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan dated May 22, 2008 No. 22-ЗРТ “On the use of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan”, citizens, if necessary, can harvest up to 100 cubic meters of wood for building a house and outbuildings once a 25 years, up to 50 cubic meters of timber for house renovation and outbuildings once every 10 years and up to 20 cubic meters of timber per household for space heating once a year. To receive the service, citizens must personally or through a representative submit an application and consent to the processing of personal data to the Ministry. “As part of the digital transformation and decriminalization of the forest industry, this service has also been provided through public service portals since last year,” he concluded.
