Issues of reforestation and protection of forests from fires discussed at the Department of Forestry in the Volga Federal District

Today, a meeting was held at the Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District on the issues of reforestation as part of the federal project “Forest Preservation” in 2022. It was held by the head of the department Alexander Ornatsky. The event was attended by representatives of the forest management bodies of the district, including from the Republic of Tatarstan - First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov, heads of structural divisions of the Ministry.

The main report at the meeting was made by Deputy Head of the Department Sergey Kovalev. He dwelled on the planned and achieved indicators for reforestation and priority tasks for the coming period. In particular, Sergey Kovalev noted that Tatarstan is among the regions that are successfully fulfilling the plan to achieve the indicators of the federal project “Forest Preservation”. So, in the republic, to date, artificial reforestation has been carried out on an area of 1412.5 hectares (100% of the plan), afforestation - on 104.6 hectares (100%), combined reforestation - on 4 hectares (100%), promotion of natural reforestation - on 1313 ha (62%).

Alexander Ornatsky instructed not to slow down the pace of reforestation and to ensure the achievement of the established indicators of the federal project “Forest Preservation”. “This also applies to activities to supplement forest crops, agrotechnical care, prepare the soil for next year’s crops, harvest seeds of forest plants and grow planting material,” he stressed.

After the meeting, a meeting of the headquarters for the coordination of activities to extinguish forest fires in the Volga Federal District was held. Within its framework, issues of monitoring the fire hazard situation, conducting aviation patrols of the forest fund, a set of works on fire-fighting arrangement of forests, etc. were discussed.
