Specialists of the forest industry of Tatarstan started harvesting seeds of silver birch
Specialists of the forest industry of the Republic of Tatarstan have started harvesting seeds of silver birch. The work is carried out within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”.
“In total, it is planned to harvest 300 kilograms of birch seeds. After that, the seeds will be sent for testing to the Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan,” said the head of the forest reproduction and afforestation department of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galiev. “The collected seed material will be used to solve the problems of reforestation and protective afforestation on agricultural lands.”
“Procurement of seeds of forest plants is an additional indicator of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan,” recalled Timur Galiev. “In total, this year it is necessary to collect at least 11,455 kilograms of seeds. In the third decade of August, we will start harvesting linden and ash seeds, and in September, we will start collecting acorns.”
In total, since the beginning of 2022, employees of subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - forestry enterprises have harvested 1168 kg of seeds, of which pine - 703 kg, spruce - 137 kg, larch - 40 kg, other species - 288 kg.
