Gathering of cones of Siberian larch began in Tatarstan
Specialists of subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - forestry enterprises have started collecting cones of Siberian larch. The work is carried out within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”.
“Larch cones usually begin to be harvested in late August - early September, before they open, that is, until the moment when the seed flakes dried by the sun's rays begin to bend back and seeds fall from under them,” said Timur Galiyev, head of the reforestation and afforestation department of the Ministry. - In general, the harvest is good. But the job of collecting buds is not easy, because to get 10-15 kilograms of seeds, you need to clean a ton of buds.”
“After extracting seeds in cone dryers, they will be sent for testing to the Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan and sown next year in nurseries,” added Timur Galiev. “In total, according to the plan, it is necessary to prepare 100 kilograms of larch seeds.”
