The Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District discussed the implementation of the federal project “Preservation of Forests”

Today, the Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District held a meeting via videoconference on the implementation of the federal project “Preservation of Forests” of the national project “Ecology”. It was held by the head of the department Alexander Ornatsky.

The event was attended by representatives of the forest management bodies of the district, including from the Republic of Tatarstan - Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Rais Gumerov and head of the forest reproduction and afforestation department of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galiev.

During the meeting, issues of achieving the target indicators of the federal project “Preservation of Forests”, carrying out reforestation, preparing the soil for forest crops in 2023, harvesting seeds of the main forest-forming species, etc. were discussed.

In particular, Alexander Ornatsky said that to date, reforestation has been carried out in the district on an area of 132.2 thousand hectares (92.3% of the plan), and 16.5 tons of coniferous seeds have been harvested. “A plan has also been completed to create forest plantations with a closed root system,” he said.

Recall that in Tatarstan this year, reforestation was carried out within the framework of the national project “Ecology” on an area of 3619.1 hectares. Of these, planting forest crops - on an area of 1412.5 hectares, afforestation - on 104.6 hectares, combined reforestation - on 4 hectares, and natural reforestation - on 2098 hectares.
