Specialists of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Bugulminsky Forestry” started collecting pine cones in the framework of the national project “Ecology”
Specialists of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Bugulminsky Forestry” started collecting pine cones within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the national project “Ecology”.
“The process of harvesting seeds is a labor-intensive process and includes several stages,” said Sagid Abdullin, director of the forestry enterprise. “Before starting the collection, it is necessary to survey harvesting sites to determine the sowing qualities of seeds and their infestation with pests and diseases. Then comes the manual collection of cones.”
“Pine cones are usually harvested from November to March, then stored indoors. In January-February, all collected cones are processed. The full processing cycle includes sorting, drying with seed extraction, dewinging, cleaning from impurities, as well as sorting and drying seeds,” he added.
According to him, after the seeds are formed in batches and sent for examination to the branch of the Federal State Institution “Roslesozashchita” “Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan”.
Until the end of the season, employees of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Bugulminsky Forestry” will collect 3.5 tons of cones. From this amount of the crop, after processing, at least 30 kg of seeds should be obtained.
Recall that the collection of seeds of the main forest-forming species is an additional indicator of the regional project “Preservation of forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the national project “Ecology”. The plan for 2023 is to harvest at least 11,455 kg of seeds.
