Rosleskhoz: VNIILM scientists have developed instruments for forest inventory and inventory

21 November 2022, Monday

The first device presented by the scientists of the All-Russian Research Institute of Forestry and Forestry Mechanization at the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference on Forest Inventory is an electronic caliper for measuring tree diameters. Its advantage is compactness and ease of use. The estimator can create tree species and tree tier codes and then store them in the system for later work. In addition, the plug is charged with a battery and connected to a mobile device for data transfer.

The second development of VNIILM scientists is designed to study the course of tree growth - this is “Taiga V”, a device for measuring the width of growth rings. A feature of the development is a built-in stepper wire that allows you to accurately position the sample position, with the help of software - to take measurements in automatic mode. In the future, the transfer of information from the device system using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device “Taiga V” is an accurate, effective, and convenient tool, and surpasses its counterparts in several parameters.

Due to their availability, the devices can be used by laboratories, scientific groups, and forest users. Presented domestic devices will replace foreign counterparts.
