The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tajikistan discussed the prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, processing, sale, and export of timber

Today, the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, processing, sale, and export of timber in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was held via videoconference under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov.

The Head of the State Control and Supervision Department of the Ministry Airat Akhmerov made the keynote speech. He said that in 11 months 107 cases of administrative offenses were initiated under Article 8.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. “Compared to the same period last year, the number of cases of illegal felling of forest plantations decreased by 17%, and the volume of illegally harvested timber decreased by 26%,” Airat Akhmerov said.

According to him, according to the results of remote monitoring of forestry activities, carried out during the year, no violations of forest legislation were revealed.

Further, the speaker dwelled on the issues of holding the interdepartmental operational and preventive measure “Spruce”. “Operation Yel will take place from December 20 to 31 this year,” Airat Akhmerov said. “Mobile patrol groups have been formed from among the state forest inspectors, forest patrol routes have been approved. Also, specialists have started explanatory work among the population about the need to respect the forest and the inadmissibility of cutting coniferous young stands in the pre-New Year period.”

At the end of the meeting, the results of the work of the Interdepartmental Commission on the prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, sale, and export of timber in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2022 were discussed and tasks for 2023 were considered.
