Farid Mukhametshin: “Student labor unions is the school for labor, patriotic and moral nurturing of the youth”

The Republican forum devoted to the 50th anniversary of the movement of student labor unions in the Republic of Tatarstan “Meeting of generations” was held in the Volga State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Chairperson of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Minister for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, Head of the first construction brigades of Tatarstan, merited constructor of the Republic of Tatarstan Anatoly Kotvitsky, commanders and commissaries of the first linear unions of Kazan Institute of Engineering and Construction in 1963, as well as 1,200 delegates from veterans, current participants of student unions engaged in various activities, proponents of youth public organizations, heads of the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the work.

The history of student unions of Tatarstan originates in 1963, and it is famous for selfless labor, purposefulness, professionalism of its legendary commanders, commissaries and soldiers.

“It is hard to overestimate the contribution made by student unions into economy of Tatarstan for the last 50 years who constructed key facilities of agriculture and industry, said Farid Mukhametshin in his introductory speech. — Their another global mission was to unite the youth and instill them with the love of labor, adjust them to life and give them an opportunity to apply this knowledge in real life. We should bow to the veterans of this movement for that”.

By efforts of the members of construction unions, for the last 50 years various city-forming companies were built, such as Compressor Plant, “Orgsynthes”, “Teplocontrol”, Zainsk State District Power Plant, Minnibaevsky gas processing plant, KamAZ. Modern fighters of labor unions are highly sought for when it comes to implementation of large-scale projects, namely construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi, facilities for the XXVII World Summer Universiade, gas processing stations on the Yamal Peninsula, Oil Refinery “Taneko”, the part of the international highway “West Europe – West China”. Pedagogical unions work in Tatar camps, medical unions work in health care establishments, agricultural unions are engaged in the work of the Agroindustrial complex of Tatarstan, while unions of car attendants in long distance trains work for “Russian Railways” OAO. Students improve the forest fund of the Republic and reconstruct unique monuments of historical heritage, such as the island town of Sviyazhsk and the ancient city of Bulgar. And it is not an exhaustive list of the projects that were implemented with participation of the modern movement of student unions consisting of thousands of members.

“Student labor movement is being restored, and it actively enters the life of our Republic, noted the Chairperson of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. – The All-Russian movement of student labor unions was and still remains the true school of labor, patriotic and moral nurturing of hundreds of thousands young men and women of our country”.

In his greeting speech, Rafis Burganov expressed gratitude to the commissaries, commanders of unions, rectors of the universities and head of companies who provide student unions with manpower and jobs. “We place a lot of confidence in our youth, since it is impossible to nurture worthy managers without such confidence. And our activity is already fruitful”. Rafis Timerkhanovich acknowledged that it would be impossible to work without student unions during the period of preparation for the World Student Games in Kazan. “During the last 5 years student labor unions participated in the construction of such high-tech facilities as the stadium “Kazan-Arena”, the Aquatics Palace, the Gymnastics Center, the Rowing Center, the Universiade Village, including former International Information Center in the building of which we are now”.

The exposition of achievements “Student unions. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow” was arranged in the framework of the Forum along with a concert, and awarding of the best members of student unions engaged in various activities with the Certificates of Merit and Letters of Gratitude on behalf of ministries and authorities.

Members of the student union “Forest patrol” participated in the work of Forum along with the students of Lubyansky Forest Engineering College.
