Coastal protective forest belts will be created in Tatarstan

During the meeting of the Minister Nail Magdeev with the National Coordinator of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Russia, Boris Melnichuk, they discussed the project envisaging forest cultivation on the territories of municipal districts of the Republic located in water protection areas of Nizhnekamsk and Kuybyshev reservoirs along the shores of Volga, Kama, Vyatka and Sviyaga rivers.

Newly created erosion-preventive protection forest plantations along coastal protection belts will safely protect the shores from erosion promoting creation of the ecosystem of coastal area around water bodies. Considering importance of the project, the Ministry asked the Heads of municipal formations of the Republic of Tatarstan to share the information on lands suitable for creation of coastal protective forest belts.
