Afforestation of the coastal belt of rivers of the Republic of Tatarstan is on the agenda

The Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nail Magdeev, held a meeting with international experts of UNIDO, namely Boris Melnichuk, coordinator of the project of the Center for International cooperation of UNIDO, Evgeny Dobrovolsky, International expert of UNIDO, and Christian Susan, representative of the headquarters of the UNIDO fund. The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Artem Sidorov, participated in the meeting as well. Cooperation of the Republic of Tatarstan with the UNIDO fund was discussed during the meeting with regard to afforestation of the coastal belt (water protection area) of large rivers of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Relevance of this ecological project to our Republic lies in the necessity to create erosion-preventive and protective forest vegetation along the coastal area of such rivers as Volga, Kama, Sviyaga and Vyatka, which will be created on the account of attracted monetary means of UNIDO in addition to what is created using republican funds.
