The international seminar “Development of the emerald network ‘Emerald’ for the territories of special nature protection importance in Russia” was held in St. Petersburg on the premises of the Pushkin Leningrad State University

The seminar is devoted to coordination of the activity of the Council of Europe and the Russian Federation in the framework of the Berne Convention for protection of wild flora and fauna, as well as native habitat. The Emerald project is aimed at detection and protection of natural habitats. Members of the Council of Europe, representatives of such foreign countries as Finland, Norway, Sweden, as well as more than 15 Russian regions including experts of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan participated in the seminar.

The issues regarding the state of nature protection territories of Europe and Russia, current results and further tasks of the project on establishment of the Emerald network in the Russian Federation were covered during the seminar.
