5 September 2016, Monday

On August 5, the Federal State-Funded Institution “Avialesooсhrana” (Aerial forest protection) presented the domestic forest fire-fighting aviation technologies during “Russkiy chas” (Russian hour) at the III International conference Aerial Fire Fighting Asia Pacific 2016 – “Aviation technologies for fire-fighting in Asia-Pacific Region” in Adelaide, Australia.

The representatives of the forestry services, military authorities, aviation companies and scientific organizations from Russia, USA, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Philippines, Brunei, Thailand and other countries took part in the conference. The conference covered a wide range of aerial firefighting topics including the issues of the interdepartmental cooperation, aerial firefighting standards and regulations of work performance, application of the unmanned aerial vehicles in firefighting, etc. As a part of the event, the static aircraft exposition was organized.

“Russkiy chas” took part during the conference. This year the topic of “Russkiy chas” was “Russian experience of using helicopter aviation in fire fighting”. The event gave the full review of the Russian theory and practice of aerial firefighting. “Russian Helicopters” (Russian: “Вертолеты России”) Holding’s specialists told about the possibilities of the contemporary Russian helicopters; the representatives of operator companies shared their own experience of firefighting in Russia and other countries, and the representatives of national firefighting departments acquainted the participants with the methodology and technologies of firefighting helicopters application.

Within the framework of “Russkiy chas”, on September 5, the deputy chief of the Federal State-Funded Institution “Avialesoohrana” Mr. Eritsov presented the report “The development of the aerial forest firefighting technologies in Russia” sharing experience of firefighting using the amphibian aircrafts, air tankers and helicopter aviation.

Special attention was paid to the technologies and firefighting experience using the modernized helibuckets VSU-5А, VSU-15А with the metered-dose wetting agent giving, which allows to regulate the amount of fire-extinguishing fluid depending on the helicopter’s carrying capacity.

In addition, testing results of the aerial fire-protective barriers’ construction were submitted. They are made of fire-resistant rapid-setting foam using the helicopter water and foam drain valve VVSU UKTP «PURGA», which is set on the external load of Mi-8MTV helicopter.

Mr. A. Kozlovsky, the CEO of “PANCH” (Application of aviation in national economy), a research and production company, in his report “The application features of Russian helicopters in firefighting missions” presented the great possibilities of Russian helicopter aviation including the helicopter Ka-32A11BC (Ka-32 Medium multi-role helicopter), which is able to use considerable arsenal of fire-fighting means to fight all kinds of wildfires. More than 30 countries use the Ka-32A11BC nowadays. The possibilities of a new multi-purpose helicopter “ANSAT” were presented too.

“Russkiy chas”, which demonstrates the extensive experience and the possibilities of the domestic aerial firefighting, attracted significant interest of the foreign representatives of the professional community and related companies.
