OnMay 18, 2017 protectiveravineplantingsover 6.3 ha area were set out in the territory of Satyshskiy village settlement of Sabinskiy district. Specialists planted acacia, birch, fir-tree, pine-tree and larch. The event was delivered within the framework of alignment meeting held in the premises of Forest Seed Center with participation of representatives of forest industry of Tatarstan, the Orenburg Region, the Samara Region, the Nizhniy Novgorod Region, the Ulyanovsk Region, the Republic of Mari El and Chuvashia.

We have got a lot to learn from Tatarstan, particularly concerning forest industry development and we are looking forward to further fruitful cooperation” – noted Sergey Kovalev – a Deputy Head of Forestry Department in Volga Region Federal District.
Uniqueness of protective forest plantings creation lies in soil conservation of agricultural lands.
At present over 40% of agricultural lands of the republic are prone to wind and water erosion. Itaffectsadverselycropcapacity. For prevention of erosion processes foresters carry out artificial soil fixing by means of protective forest ranges. Theyfixthesoil, preventoferosion, control over snow melting and land runoff, promote natural regeneration of ravines and involvement of unused lands in economic turnover. Consequently ravine plantings contribute in increase in productivity of agricultural fields. Protective erosion-preventing forest ran gesover more than 2 thous.ha area are planted annually.
Specialized equipment is used by erosion-preventingforestranges planting; planting in difficult-to-reach areas is performed by human force using Kolesov’s planting iron and Sabinskiy planting iron.
According to the technology, 3-3.5 thous.pieces of wood species for prevention of erosion processes are planted over 1 ha area.
