After 8 years a Republican meeting of school forest districts will be held in Tatarstan
In order to successfully implement the activities aimed at vocational guidance of students and their support in acquiring skills in forestry, thanks to the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N. Minnikhanov, on July 29-31, 2018, the Ministry is organizing the II Meeting of the School Forest Districts of the Republic of Tatarstan on the basis of the State Budgetary Professional Educational Institution “Lubyanskiy Forestry Engineering College".
On July 30 at 9.30 will be a grand opening event with participation of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan State Agrarian University.
In 2018 there are more than 50 school forest districts in the Republic of Tatarstan, which bring together about 1,200 students and 44 schools. 200 students from 31 forest districts will take part at the Second Meeting of school forest districts. Each team has its own coat of arms, motto and form. The event will host a solemn parade and an exhibition of school forestry, where each team will show its achievements.
For three days the children are waiting for an unprecedented holiday, where contests, forest competitions and workshops on forest subjects will be organized (art painting of spoons, basket-weaving, wool sketching "Forest motives", making nest boxes, carving wood). The children will be shown a tour of the forestry, during which they will see how the harvesting machinery harvester and the forwarder operation.
During the competition, the schoolchildren will have to demonstrate not only knowledge about the forest and its inhabitants, but also the ability to work in a team, orienting in the forest, skills to overcome obstacles, fire extinguishing and forest mensuration (measurement of trees with surveying compass, altimeter and an angle gauge).
Thanks to the support of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the winners of the Second Meeting will receive laptops, tablets, smartphones, watches, forest measuring instruments that will be useful for further training in forestry.
Reference: The movement of school forestry in Russia began in the 60s of the last century. The first school forestry appeared in 1952. In 1967, the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) drafted and approved the first Regulation on school forestry. In 1978, school forest districts received state status: activities were prescribed in the Forest Code. In 1979, a new Regulation on school forestry was issued, according to which four areas of work were identified in their activities: forestry, professional, forest communities, educational activities. The idea of involving schoolchildren in practical work in the forest turned out to be so interesting and in demand that by the 1980s there were 6000 school forest districts in the country. This movement also developed in Tatarstan. In 1967, the head of the school forestry was Nurgali Minnikhanov, he created a school forestry called "Nurgali onyklary" ("Grandsons of Nurgali). In 2010, the first republican meeting of school forest districts was held in the republic, where teams of young foresters from all thirty forest districts of the Republic of Tatarstan gathered. The event was held in the Sabinskiy forestry. At present, in accordance with the instructions of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation A.G. Khloponin, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Federal Forestry Agency, has developed a plan for the development of school forest districts for 2018-2027. In addition, the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan has developed and approved a standard plan for the work of school forest districts for 2018, which means carrying out various activities with the participation of school forest district such as "Forest planting day", "Clean forests of Tatarstan", "International Day of Birds" and others;

The competition program of the Meeting includes the holding of 3 nominations: "Greeting of teams - visiting card", competition procedure "Young foresters", which is held in the following areas: "Botany and dendrology", "Forest Science and Forestry", "Conservation and protection of forests" "Geodesy", "Forest Fires Extinguishing". The evaluation of the jury will also include research works, the protection of which will be held within the framework of the forestry conference "The future of the forests of Tatarstan is in our hands". For teachers, heads of school forest districts there will be a round table on the topic: "Organization and planning activities of school forestry in the Republic of Tatarstan."
School forest districts of the Republic of Tatarstan are one of the forms of ecological and forestry education, they contribute to the formation of schoolchildren's ideas about the life of the forest and the activities of forest rangers, and assist in the staffing of forestry.
