The Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan summed up the work on state monitoring of forest reproduction for the 2nd quarter of 2020
In the second quarter of 2020, employees of the Federal Budgetary Institution “Roslesozashchita” branch - “Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan” carried out work to assess the characteristics of forest stands as part of state monitoring of forest reproduction on the lands of the forest fund of the Prigorodnyi and Bugulminskiy forest districts. All surveys were performed on the area of 73.4 ha.
The objects of research were the sites assigned to the lands on which forests are located, in 2017-2018, where natural reforestation occurred as a result of natural processes, and measures were also taken to reforestation. In the course of the work, trial plots were laid in accordance with the requirements of regulatory documents, which determined the quantitative, qualitative and pedigree composition of the stands, as well as the compliance of these indicators with the rules of reforestation.
Also, the branch specialists carried out work on identification (inventory) of lands not occupied by forest stands and requiring reforestation using remote sensing technologies (Earth remote sensing) on the lands of the forest fund of the Privolzhskiy and Tetyushskiy forest districts. In total, ground verification of the results of decoding of remote sensing materials of 42 sites on a total area of 55.4 hectares was performed.
Work on state monitoring of forest reproduction will continue during the growing season of 2020.
