Employees of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Forest Fire Center” told reporters about the work on forests protection from fires
Today, a press tour for representatives of the media took place at the type III forest fire station of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Forest Fire Center” located in the Laishevo town, Laishevskiy municipal district.
As part of the press tour, journalists learned about the 2020 fire season in the forests in the Republic of Tatarstan, what is being done to prevent forest fires, got acquainted with the work of the information system for remote monitoring of forest fires of the Federal Forestry Agency (ISDM-Rosleskhoz), appreciated equipping of a forest fire station, saw the ways and techniques of extinguishing forest fires.
The Director of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan ‘Forest Fire Center” Aidar Gaifullin said that currently fire safety in the forest is provided by 20 type II forest fire stations at the forestry enterprises and 5 type III forest fire stations at the Forest Fire Center.
“This station has 11 units of equipment, including 3 fire tankers, as well as the necessary fire fighting equipment and other special equipment for extinguishing forest fires. In accordance with the “Consolidated plan for extinguishing forest fires on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan”, the territory served by this station is 267 thousand hectares”, he said.
Aidar Gaifullin informed in detail about the purpose of each piece of equipment, and also demonstrated a tent that will be deployed in the event of a forest fire in the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to him, in order to ensure fire safety in forests, space monitoring of the fire hazard situation, aviation and ground, is being carried out, as well as active campaigning and preventive work among the population to comply with fire safety rules in forests. “Aviation patrols are carried out in case of 4th and 5th classes of fire hazard”, added Aidar Gaifullin.
Aisylu Gabdrakhmanova, the Dispatcher of the regional dispatching service of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Forest Fire Center”, told about the work of ISDM-Rosleskhoz. “Since the beginning of the year, the system has recorded 519 thermal points. A thermal point is a significant increase in temperature on its surface, recorded at the time of the passage of an artificial satellite of the Earth, in comparison with neighboring areas. 282 cases of fires were confirmed in areas bordering the forest fund on a total area of 65.7 hectares. All of them were promptly eliminated by employees of the subordinate institutions of the Ministry, the Forest Fire Center and the Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan. There have been no fires in the forest fund since 2011”, she said.
The Chief Mechanic of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Forest Fire Center” Marat Ramazanov showed the warehouse of fire-fighting equipment, inventory and a special fireman suit. “This suit can withstand up to 800 degrees Celsius for five seconds. That is, thanks to him, the forest firefighter has time to maneuver to avoid burns”, said Marat Ramazanov.
At the end of the press tour, methods and techniques of extinguishing forest fires were demonstrated. The journalists saw the process of using a knapsack fire extinguisher, a forest fire blower-sprayer and a fire engine pump.
