The staff of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Honored Forester of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Honorary Chairman of the Russian Society of Foresters, the last chief forester of the Soviet Union Anatoly Ivanovich Pisarenko.

The beginning of his career coincided with a large-scale government campaign to achieve high and sustainable yields in the southern grain-growing regions of the country. A young graduate of the Bryansk Forestry Institute in 1951 was sent to the dry Kalmyk steppes to create state forest belts and protective afforestation. Then there was work as a forester, head of the scientific research forest experimental station, forestry enterprise, chief forester of the Stavropol regional forestry administration, work in forestry management bodies. At the age of 39, Anatoly Ivanovich became Deputy Minister of Forestry of the RSFSR. Later the first deputy chairman of the USSR State Forestry Committee the chief forester of the country. He held this responsible post until 1992 and left it in connection with the liquidation of the USSR State Forestry Committee.

Anatoly Ivanovich made an invaluable contribution to the development of forestry science. He is the author of more than 270 published works, over 30 books and monographs (many in co-authorship or in a group of authors). All the main issues of the world and domestic forestry were reflected in his publications and speeches, many works were translated into foreign languages ​​and published abroad.

For merits in forestry, Anatoly Pisarenko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and numerous medals. He was awarded the honorary title “Honored Forester of the Russian Federation”, he is also a laureate of the Gold G.F. Morozov Medal.

The bright memory of Anatoly Ivanovich will remain in the hearts of colleagues, his relatives and friends.
