Employees of the branch of FBU “Roslesozashchita” “Center for Forest Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan” carried out work to collect samples of the genetic material of pedunculate oak, European spruce, and Scots pine on the lands of the forest fund of the Kyzyl-Yulduzsky forestry. “The collection of samples - needles, leaves, and wood - was carried out in plantings of natural origin for DNA analysis and genetic certification of plantings,” said Elena Murzaeva, head of the Tatar forest seed station department of the branch. “Thanks to this analysis, it is possible to determine the level of biological resistance and the nature of genetic variability of the main forest-forming species, to ensure early diagnosis of phytopathogens in forest nurseries”.
According to Elena Murzaeva, FBU Roslesozashchita has 7 DNA analysis laboratories located in Altai, Krasnoyarsk, and Khabarovsk regions, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Leningrad, and Moscow regions. The material collected in the Republic of Tatarstan during fieldwork was sent to the branch of the Federal Budgetary Institution “Roslesozashchita” “Center for Forest Protection of the Voronezh Region”.
