Today, the Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District held a regular meeting of the headquarters for coordinating activities to extinguish forest fires in the Volga Federal District. The meeting was held via videoconference chaired by the head of the department Alexander Ornatsky.

The event was attended by representatives of the forest management bodies of the district, including from the Republic of Tatarstan - the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov and the head of the sector for the protection and protection of the forest fund of the Ministry Alexei Mosunov.

Opening the meeting, Alexander Ornatsky said that since the beginning of the year, 332 forest fires have been recorded in the Volga Federal District on a total area of 1.2 thousand hectares. The largest number of fires occurred in the Perm Territory, the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

“In general, 130 forest fires were extinguished in the Russian Federation over the past day,” said Alexander Ornatsky. “In connection with the increased intensity of the fire situation, it is necessary to strengthen control over ensuring fire safety in forests and the implementation of measures for the fire-fighting arrangement of forests.”

Further, during the meeting, representatives of regional government bodies spoke, who reported on the measures taken to prevent the occurrence of forest fires.
