The history of the Lubyansky Forest Engineering College dates back to 1921. It was then that Biklyanskaya Forest School of the Menzelinsky District together with a group of 22 students moved to Lubyany and became the Forest Technical School. It is important to note that it was not a green field; it was located at the landlord Lebedev’s former residence. The name of Boris Zhilkin, who together with S. Nikolayev opened a technical school, is forever written in the annals of the Lubyany history. He did his best to establish the scientific and experimental forestry. He exemplified to the contemporaries and future generations of foresters how much scientific material is contained in the Lubyany forest for the thinking mind. Until 1926 he worked and lived in Lubyany, and then he moved to Kazan. Here, he is an Associate Professor, Dean of the Forestry Faculty of the Kazan Agricultural Institute, and then an acting director of the Kazan Institute of Forestry.

The curriculum was constantly improved, and in 1923 it became the basis for new technical schools. Such was the decision of the Central Forest Management in Moscow. The curriculum was set up with a focus on forest operation, it considered the existence in the Lubyansky Forestry of sawmill, resin and turpentine plant and large logging

On August 14, 2016 the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the day of Walking (Procession) of Honorable Trees of Life-giving Cross. Since ancient times, this day is considered to be a day of foresters as praising the tree (Honorable trees). According to the legend, the cross on which Christ was crucified was made out of cedar of Lebanon, cypress and pine. Later, the wood of these trees was traditionally used for making the crosses of pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land. In addition, the cross is a symbol of readiness to suffer for others, for one’s work and opinion, and selflessness has always been a hallmark of the Russian foresters.

The history of the day of forester takes its rise in 1862 in the Lisino-Korpus Village near St. Petersburg where the church of the Forest Department of Russia in the name of the Origin of Honorable Trees of the Life-giving Cross was raised by the architect Nicholas Benois. The church was built for the needs of the Training Forest District. Here, the graduates of the Forest Institute and Jaeger School were communed for the first time, and it was a venue for senior officials of the Forester Corps in the days of celebrations.

The emergency response team of Rosleskhoz requested regional authorities of the Central Federal District to intensify monitoring of forest fire danger and wildfires.

The risk of wildfires also increases because of people are busy with gathering of wild plants (mushrooms, cranberries, cowberries, herbs and other forest gifts).

Currently, the Wildfire Remote Monitoring Information System of Rosleskhoz has recorded the heat spots on the territory of the Central Federal District identified by regional dispatching services of forestry as agricultural burnings.
