Today the III Russian Logging Championship “Logger 2015” has opened in Kazan at Kazan-Arena stadium. Within two days the professional loggers and forestry experts from 26 regions of Russia and Republic of Belarus will compete in speed, accuracy and agility while working with wood.
The Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, the president of the Russian Union of Timber Industrialists and Exporters, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Miron Tatsyun, Tatarstan Minister of Forestry Almas Nazirov and representatives of partner companies of the Championship were among those who attended the opening ceremony of the National Championship.
“The Republic of Tatarstan hosts a lot of different competitions and events. But event such as today it hosts for the first time. Here there are the best loggers from all over Russia. For the first time ever we hold competitions where not just the first position in the standings table is determined. We see professionals who compete not only for the positions in the standings, but also for their region, enterprise and professional development. We are particularly pleased to hold the championship in Kazan,” said Ildar Khalikov in his opening speech.
The Prime Minister reminded that recently Russia, Kazan in particular, has won the right to host WorldSkills competition in 2019, and that just in an hour the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov will take place.
“It is very symbolic that today of all days we hold this great celebration,” said I.Khalikov. “I wish that each team will prove itself the most professional, and that there will be no competitive spirit, but the spirit of brotherhood and good relations.”
In turn, Miron Tatsyun said that this year even the third Russian Championship is held which “we may hold upon the entry into an international organization holding the world logging championships.”
“In 2013 Veliky Novgorod hosted the championship. 13 substituents of the Russian Federation took part in it. In 2014 in Kirov there were representatives from 24 regions of Russia. Following the results of these competitions the Russian team, that participated in the World Championship in Switzerland, was formed,” reminded the Head of the Russian Union of Timber Industrialists and Exporters.
According to him, thanks to the Decree of the Russian Government, which enabled to focus on forestry, to increase professionalism and prestige of workers in this sector, it is now possible to hold such events.
Upon welcoming the competitors from 26 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus the honored guests of the opening ceremony have sawn a log instead of cutting the red ribbon as the symbol of the competition opening. Ildar Khalikov and Myron Tatsyun took part in sawing the log by the “friendship saw”.
After official opening of the Championship “Logger 2015”, the guests familiarized themselves with the XVI Exhibition of Woodworking Industry of Russia – Specialized Exhibition entitled “Woodworking”.
Representatives of Forestry of Tatarstan and the Russian Union of Timber Industrialists and Exporters got acquainted with the state-of-the-art equipment for logging of both domestic and foreign companies (Germany, Slovenia, Spain, Finland, France and Switzerland). The guests familiarized themselves with the latest developments in the field of chemical industry, forestry and others. A particular highlight at Kazan-Arena was an exhibition of achievements of forest industry of Tatarstan, where the Tatarstan forestries presented their products.
Please be reminded that the III Russian Logging Championship “Logger” is held in the capital of Tatarstan from 18 to 19 September. For two days, representatives of forestry from all over Russia will compete in tree felling, fitting another chain, bucking with combined cuts, precision bucking, limbing and relay.
The winners of the Logger 2015 and the Logger 2016 will be included into the Russian national team to represent Russia at the 32nd World Logging Championship that will be held in 2016 in Poland.
It should be pointed out that the Woodworking Exhibition and the Logger 2015 Championship are held ahead of the professional holiday of workers of the forest industry. So, the participants and guests of the event are in for a varied entertainment program, which includes spectacular demonstrations of loggers, specialized contests with prizes, and forest Sabantuy with simulation of wood cordon.

The oil and petrochemical industry and machine building industry are prevailing in the economy of the Republic of Tatarstan. In this regard, the issue of forest conservation is of high priority. And we, being aware of the importance of this problem, actively invest in the development of the forestry and wood industries”. The President wished success to the competitors.

Traditionally, the Russian championship is held in two stages – at the regional and federal levels. The winners of the regional stage are nominated to participate in the national championship, and the winners of the national championship take part in the world championship. So, the winners of the Logger 2015 and the Logger 2016 will be included into the Russian national team to represent Russia at the 32nd World Logging Championship that will be held in 2016 in Poland.
About 30 Russian teams will take part in the Logger 2015. It is expected that the team of the Republic of Belarus will compete too.
School Forestry unit of the Secondary School No.3 (the head – ChibidinaT.I.) in collaboration with the Nurlatsky Forestry Establishment implements the “Rainbow” project. They noticed that in the school neighboring yards, where there are the homes of war and labor veterans, the fences for flower gardens are undecorative. The Nurlatsky Forestry has provided pupils with picket fences and paints. The several classes answered the first call: boys from 6a, 8b, and 9b classes saw into desired sizes and the girls from 8b class carefully painted them in different colors. Xenia Sosnova managed the project. Now the yards of veterans are decorated with rainbow fences.

The organizers of the championship are the Russian Union of Timber Industrialists and Exporters, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Federal Forestry Agency, Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, JSC “Centerlesexpo” and JSC “Kazanskaya Yarmarka”.

It is expected that in 2015 the teams from 30 regions of the Russian Federation and the team of the Republic of Belarus will compete.
The Russian Logging Championship “Logger 2015” is not only a demonstration of virtuoso use of logging tool and equipment, but also a vivid and entertaining show. The spectators may enjoy cultural and recreational activities in between competitions: exhibition performance of wooden figures cut out by the chainsaw; specialized contests with prizes, and amateur performances.
This spring in the Republic of Tatarstan different planting stock (about 53 thousand pieces) was planted as part of the “Victory Forest” project. During the period of 2010-2015, 875 000 residents of Tatarstan took part in Forest Planting Days; 11.3 million trees were planted on the area of 2.5 thousand hectares.
A good tradition will continue this autumn. During this period, in all Russian regions everyone will be able to take part in clearing forests from litter and in activities for planting young trees in forests and parks of the hometown, in landscaping the territories of monuments and memorials, schoolyards, in walkway laying, in collecting seeds and acorns.
We will welcome everyone who takes part and personally assists in cleaning, landscaping and restoration of forests and parks of native land, because this initiative adds chances to preserve the main treasure of mankind – a unique ecosystem of our planet.
The campaign will run until the end of October.
Teachers and college students participate in volunteer campaign “Autumn Week of Goodness – Relay of Good Deeds”. The College stadium gathered the most sport-oriented students – 56 people – to take part in cross-country and relay, tug-of-war competitions, push-ups, and arm wrestling.
Among the participants there were the members of the Commission, the staff of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Directorate for the Protection and Use of Wildlife Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Institute of Ecology and Subsurface Resource Management of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Federal University, Volga-Kama State Natural Biosphere Reserve, Lower Kama National Park.
The meeting was devoted to the preparation of the 3rd edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Tatarstan that will be published in 2016.
Teachers and college students participate in volunteer campaign “Autumn Week of Goodness – Relay of Good Deeds”. During environmental lesson “We’ll do it together” that was held at the college library the students made presentations discussing worrying facts of littering the planet by the household waste. Just to name a few, plastic wastes and wrapping film cannot be degraded naturally, but their combustion leads to penetration of most of pollutants into the atmosphere.
As part of the campaign the competitions of erudite and readers, “Flower Kaleidoscope” were held.
