During the ordinary meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Forestry of the Russian-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the Minister N. Magdeev told about economic potential of Tatarstan, innovation projects of forestry and suggested that a session of the Committee under the UN Economic Commission for Europe on Forests and Timber Industry and the European Commission on Forest Management of the Food and Agricultural Organization be held.
A course of lections on legal aspects of the protection of the special protected natural areas, biology of animals and birds, fundamentals of recognition of main diseases and invaders of forest vegetation was given to attendees. Besides classes, a tour to the garden-arboretum and the museum of Volga-Kama State Natural Biosphere Reserve was made. Test is to be taken at the end of each unit.
All specialists successfully mastered the curriculum and obtained state certificates confirming further training.
By the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, each year, starting from December 12, 2013, at the Day of Constitution, the All-Russian Day of Reception of Citizens will be held at every state establishment of the country.

The issues of interaction with Finland considering a new regulation of the EU on round timber and its implications for Russia will be discussed in the framework of the Working Group.

The staff of the State nature reserve “Ashit” carried out nature protection campaigns in nurseries and educational institutions of the region during the whole Year of environmental culture and protection. The campaign “Feed birds in winter!” started at Arsk elementary school No. 3. The expert of the nature reserve Leysan Akhmetova gave Ecology Lessons and told pupils about the importance of people’s environmental culture for the nature preservation. She also explained which birds didn't fly away and overwinter at the native land, hoping for humans’ help. Children in their turn got ready for the campaign “Feed birds in winter!”: together with their parents they made feeding troughs for our winged friends and hanged them up on trees.
Within the framework of the Year of environmental culture and protection in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republican Center of traditional culture development held “The Earth Breath” competition. 25 children's associations from different regions of the republic took part in the competition. In the course of the competition its participants planted trees in their settlements, cleared springs away from garbage, and organized performances of amateur theaters on environmental protection. The most active participants of “The Earth Breath” project were rewarded with gifts, including gifts from the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Additional financial means were allocated from the republican budget for the year 2013 to purchase 50 UAZ cars for state public institutions-forestries of the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the ceremony of delivery of car keys, the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Magdeev expressed confidence that new cars will allow foresters to conduct work on preservation of the forest resources of the Republic more efficiently and to protect it from fires and offenders of forest legislation.
